4C Class Blog

Welcome to 4C's class blog. Here you will see regular updates from our class giving you an insight into the work we get up to.

30/01/26

4C have had a great week making and refining their adverts for a range of different products.  They have selected a range of pictures to grab your attention, have created their own brand name and slogan, and are working on adding persuasive words and phrases to tempt their audience.  We look forward to sharing these with you when we have completed them.

Our knowledge of fractions continues to develop, and we are practicing identifying fractions of numbers and shapes.  We have also begun to learn about a number of key Jewish beliefs.  Our pupils show a great depth of empathy and thought towards all groups of people around the world.

4C have made a wonderful start to their scrapbooking project, gathering photographs of past school trips, adventures, conquests and victories.  They have also begun to explore potential presentation styles and methods for their books.  A wonderful and uplifting start!

16/01/26

A big well done to 4c this week, who have almost all completed the required work for their Media qualification with the WJEC, with only a possible redrafting required.  What an achievement!

We have been learning about ratio this week and developing and refining our skills in finding halves of a range of shapes and numbers.  Our history topic has made a great start - with everyone selecting a famous person with links to the North East and then using their historical research skills to find out background information about their early life.

We continue to access the local community as much as possible and are heading into Gateshead this morning to do some shopping.  I am always immensely proud of how our young people conduct themselves when out and about.  Well done everyone!

We have done some fantastic work on finding fractions of shapes and numbers this week.  KS and SNB are absolute fraction champions this week – well done girls.  It has been amazing to see you helping out other students too!

Everyone has made a fantastic start to planning their own adverts and we are looking forward to rehearsing and making our adverts next week!

From Miss Pearson :

This week 4C have begun creative work on a variety of projects reflecting on their time in school and demonstrating their creative talents and abilities, while also finding new skills.  A brave start to a very creative term.

Autumn Term 2025 summary

4C have made an amazing start to the academic year.  We have been practicing our independent skills when in the local area and have been to Gateshead, Newcastle, Metrocentre and Wrekenton.  We are gaining confidence in shopping and in making sure we receive the correct amount of change.  We have also been looking at how we can keep ourselves safe in the community, at home and at school.

During our topic on "Dystopian Novels", we began to explore settings and characters and how to use language more effectively to describe people and places.  This has continued into our work on modern novels.

In maths we have continued to develop our knowledge and awareness of numbers and how they work, culminating in practicing our tables and using formal methods to add and subtract.

We are developing an awareness of the world around us in our work on Christianity, the local area in which we live, and the impact which the internet and social media can have.  We are also continuing to develop our understanding of other people and how we can form positive relationships.  We have also been exploring different types of bullying and the effect that this can have on people.

03/10/25

We've had a very creative week in 4C this week.  We have loved writing descriptive settings, and inventing and describing our own characters for a dystopian story.

In art we have been inspired to use pastels in order to reproduce some of Van Gogh's most interesting paintings.

This week 4C have made tremendous progress towards achieving their WJEC Entry Pathways Qualification in Creative Media and Performance Arts, identifying shared commonalities in films from different genres and learning which typical settings, characters, events and music and used within those genres.
