Assessment in Hill Top (Impact)

Whole School Assessment System:

In Hill Top we have our own assessment system which is written on subject specific progress trackers. These trackers were started in autumn term 2025.

The process for completing these progress trackers is:

-          Each pupil will have a printed version of the progress tracker for the 4 core areas.

-          Teachers completed a baseline in autumn term 1 2025. Staff will highlight statements that pupils have clearly demonstrated at least 3 times. If pupils are starting to show skills or have only completed it once, or staff are unsure, this statement shouldn’t be highlighted as complete.

-          Teachers then use the highlighted statements to decide which stage pupils were working from for each core area. Pupils shouldn’t be working across more than 2 stages for each sub-heading area. This will ensure targeted teaching can result in progress.

-          Staff will complete the record sheet each half term.

-          Each half term the process will be repeated in line with whole school data drop dates.  For each data drop, staff will highlight any changes in a new colour, so progress can be seen.

Dates for whole school data drop 2025-26

Autumn Term – 24th November 2025

Spring Term – 13th March 2026

Summer Term – 5th June 2026

Other Curriculum Assessment:

Each subject or area will have additional assessment that is completed to further inform teachers planning, for pupil’s next steps. This can be explored further in subject area planning.

Individual Pupil Assessment:

All pupils have an ECHP and individual outcomes related to this, which staff are also implementing alongside an educational curriculum.

Pupils may also have other targets in relation to individual programmes, such as OT, SaLT or regulation. Staff will monitor the implementation of these and review usually once per term.
