About us...
In A4 class, we support six students from Year 8 to Year 11, who follow a semi-formal curriculum tailored to each individual's needs. The curriculum focuses on communication and language, wellbeing, and independence, with personalised learning embedded throughout the day. Students also work on their individual EHCP targets, alongside goals linked to subject areas, ensuring meaningful progress that reflects their strengths and areas for development.
Sensory regulation is a key part of our classroom's approach, supporting students to be calm, focused, and ready to learn. A range of regulation activities are offered daily, which may include time in the soft play or sensory room, movement breaks and sensory input. In addition, personalised sensory diets help pupils manage their sensory needs, promoting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
The class is led by Mrs Francisco, the class teacher, alongside teaching assistants Mrs Smith, Mrs Moore, and Miss Shortland. Together, this experienced and dedicated team works collaboratively to deliver consistent and high-quality support. They build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and create a nurturing atmosphere where every student feels safe, understood, and valued. Through a combination of skilled teaching, personalised support, and a deep understanding of autism, the team ensures that all learners are empowered to reach their full potential.
