In the Autumn term, pupils have been focusing on team games by learning about why exercise is important and how exercise can help us physically and mentally. Pupils have looked into fitness tests such as the beep test, to look at ways to improve their cardiovasular fitness.

Pupils have also been learning skills for more leisure games such as darts, pool, boccia and New Age Kurling.

This term pupils who had 100% attendance before October half term were awarded with a visit to the bowling alley where they played a game of ten pin bowling.

4B class have been playing Squash as part of the health and well-being activities on a Friday afternoon, pupils have increased their ability and confidence in the games as the weeks have progressed, well done to all involved.

Autumn 2025

 This term in PE

In the Autumn term, pupils have been focusing on team games by playing American football and Basketball, as both games are very different, it has been challenging for pupils to learn the rules of both games. Pupils have enjoyed trying new sports and playing as a team.

This term we have had coaches from the Newcastle United Foundation visiting school to deliver coaching sessions to our pupils which they have enjoyed and try to learn new skills to help them in football matches.

We also had the visit of Durham Cricket coaches to teach pupils how to play table cricket. Table Cricket is an adapted game of cricket played with 7 fielders and 1 batter, we have a few pupils in school which have really enjoyed this.

In this term we have continued to attend the Newcastle United Foundation at their centre in Newcastle, this has been a girls and a boys group attending, both groups have enjoyed trying new challenges, making friends and playing sports.

3C class for Friday afternoons have been playing squash and going for walks as part of their health and well-being.
