What are we doing to help the environment?
Well, at Hill Top School we are doing more and more to raise awareness of environmental issues.
So far, we have -
- set up a Green Team which is a group of pupils elected by each class;
- begun to recycle more waste materials, including paper, ink cartridges, mobile phones and batteries;
- looked at improving the school grounds, including planting flowers and bulbs;
- set up a vegetable garden;
- taken part in national promotions such as Morrison's Get Growing, British Gas Generation Green and The Potato Council's Potatoes for Schools;
- invited pupils to help maintain the school environment;
- included environmental issues into the curriculum.
The staff and pupils involved have enjoyed all these activities and they are keen to do more.
We have begun working towards the Sustainable Schools Eco-School Award, which is nationally recognised, and will be a real feather in our cap!
