PE and Sport

The School football team trains on a Friday evening from four PM until Five PM.

The development of the school team has its principals based in the SEAL agenda, helping players to develop their understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses as well as fostering ways to get on with others even when in an exciting and fast paced situation. Our pupils learn how to win with dignity as well as how to lose having tried their absolute best.

The school team hosts regular challenge games against Hare Law School from County Durham as well as playing in small sided football tournaments organised by the Wanderers Sports Association. The small sided tournaments see us split the players into a key stage three squad and a key stage four squad.

The teams are overseen by Mr Lines, who is an FA qualified coach.

Promising players are referred on to the Waldridge Park Junior Football Club team for players with learning disabilities.

Everyone can participate

Hill Top School continues to focus on raising participation and fitness awareness levels by offering a varied curriculum that is differentiated to suit all pupils.
We have produced well developed systems that encourage pupils to participate in inter and intra school activities. We realise that participation in sport can range from the achievement of excellence in a sporting activity to taking up the role of referee, coach, reporter or photographer.
Already in 2010 / 11 academic year pupils have had the opportunity to participate in inter school football, trampolining, rugby, netball, and inter house competitions in football and basketball.

All activities are open to boys and girls
